The Amazing Race 25 is the twenty-fifth installment of The Amazing Race. It aired on CBS from September 26, 2014 and concluded on December 19, 2014.
Production[]
Applications for the season were due on November 7, 2013 but was extended to two weeks on November 21. Semi-finalist interviews were held in January and February 2014, and the final casting interviews were held in Los Angeles around March 2014.
During the upfronts on the scheduling for the upcoming 2014-15 television season, it was moved to Fridays at 20:00 ET (19:00 CT), with the old Sunday timeslot was occupied by freshman drama Madam Secretary.[1]
Filming for the season began on May 31, 2014, with the Starting Line taking place at Times Square in New York City. For the first time, the Starting Line was opened to the public, rather than in a private location to avoid spoilers. This led to the announcements of the teams' identities on the same day and the rewarding of The Save, an elimination dispensation pass, which replaced the Express Pass as the prize rewarded to the first place team on the first leg.
This season travelled through four continents, nine countries, and 20 cities under a distance of 26,000 miles (42,000 km), including a first-time visits in US Virgin Islands and Malta. Filming concluded on June 22, 2014.[2]
