Paul Montgomery and Steve Scale are a team of Workmates on the 2nd season of The Amazing Race Australia.

Profile

These workmates from Victoria spend their days together and share a ruthless competitive edge, but that's where the similarities end.

"We work for a road building company, but he's the accountant and I get my hands dirty," explains Steve, who works with the company's construction contractors.

Even though the furthest they've travelled together is "down the road to get lunch", these unlikely teammates are in the race to win.

"I used to be an overweight kid," explains Paul. "I grew up being bullied, then I got into bodybuilding. So I will be testing my results in a competitive environment."

Paul says his physical transformation is his proudest achievement. "I'd like to show that the kid that got bullied can stand up for himself."

"I would describe myself as motivated, powerful and intelligent," says Paul.

"And intense and arrogant!" adds Steve with a laugh.

"Perceived arrogance," corrects Paul.

"We are here to be number one and if that involves burning another team then so be it," says Steve, the more laidback half of this partnership.

Paul adds, "I'm not preparing a departure speech because I'm going to be winning this race."
