I'm Not a Miner! No, You're an Idiot! is the eighth episode of The Amazing Race 2.

Synopsis[]

The closeness of the race increases the intensity and the teammates begin to feel the pressure as a minor mistake could mean elimination for one team.

Five teams race from Hong Kong to Sydney and into the Australian Outback in a mad intercontinental dash. Two teams fail to follow instructions at one of the challenges, resulting in a major set back for them. With an elimination looming, every decision the teams make could cost the race.[2]

  4. Oswald & Danny (6:29 am)
  5. Blake & Paige (6:32 am)

Teams must take a bus to Repulse Bay to go to the Tin Hau statue to find their next clue.

The instructions for the Fast Forward were found with their clue at the beginning of the leg. Teams must find the Po Lin Monastery, and then climb 268 steps to the Tian Tan Buddha to find the Fast Forward award.

Teams must go by taxi to the Murray House in Stanley to find their next clue.

Choice A: Dragon
Teams had to row a dragon boat, usually suited for twelve people, through a short, marked 600 m (2,000 ft) course to receive the next clue.

Chris & Alex, Gary & Dave, and Tara & Wil chose this task.

Choice B: Lion
Teams had to carry a ceremonial lion normally made for two through a 2,400 m (7,900 ft) course through narrow markets and steep stairs to receive the next clue.

Blake & Paige and Oswald & Danny chose this task.

Teams must fly to Sydney, Australia and go to the footsteps of the Sydney Opera House to get their next clue.

"For someone who speaks good Australian."

One team member from each team had to follow a series of clues written in Australian slang to receive the next clue. First, they had to find: the surfie (surfer) in the lairy daks (flashy, colorful shorts) at Martin Place, then the anklebiter (child) riding a bicycle around Archibald Fountain at Hyde Park, then find a Sheila (woman, usually single and attractive) in the Aussie cozzie (swim suit) near Captain Cook Statue in Hyde Park and ask for "the good oil", then the bushie (country person who resides in the Outback) in Circular Quay. Once the slang was done, they may return to their partner.

The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:

Teams must make their way to the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia and go to the rooftop to check in.
For coming in first place, Oswald & Danny won a seven-day cruise on Royal Caribbean.

Leg 9[]

  1. Oswald & Danny (8:26 pm)
  2. Chris & Alex (9:10 pm)

Teams must travel to find BridgeClimb Sydney, where each team had to climb to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge to obtain the next clue.

The instructions for the Fast Forward were found with their clue at the beginning of the leg. Teams must travel to Harry's Cafe de Wheels in Woolloomooloo where both team members had to eat a meat pie to win the Fast Forward award. Chris & Alex won this Fast Forward.

Teams were instructed to travel to Coober Pedy. To get there, they had to fly to Adelaide and make their way to National Jet Systems Terminal, where they signed up for one of three flights to Coober Pedy. The first two teams departed at 1:00 pm, two more at 1:15 pm, and the last team at 1:30 pm. Once in Coober Pedy, teams had to use a marked vehicle to drive themselves to the Metal Tree sculpture for the next clue.

Choice A: Cool Down
Teams had to find the Opal Quest mine in Coober Pedy. Once at the mining company, teams headed down into the cool tunnels and search within a large pile of dirt that hid an opal using traditional mining tools. After finding an "opal", they returned to the surface to show the judge their opal and collect the next clue.

Oswald & Danny and Tara & Wil chose this task.

Choice B: Heat Up
Teams played three holes of golf on the driest golf course in the world. However, the holes all criss-cross each other and teams must play in the intense heat of up to 130 °F (54 °C) using only a map and one ball.

Blake & Paige and Gary & Dave chose this task.

Teams were told to travel to Lookout 2 inside Breakaways National Park and follow a series of flags on a valley to get their next clue.

"For someone throwing should have a good arm."

One team member had to throw a boomerang from within a circle such that the boomerang would leave, return to, and land within the circle.

The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:

Teams must continue to follow the flags and make their way to the Aboriginal Camp in Breakaways National Park.
For coming in first place, Chris & Alex won a vacation to Cancún, provided by American Airlines Vacations.
