I'm Filthy And I Love It is the second episode of The Amazing Race 9.
The teams learn quickly about the toll this Race has on the mind and body. One Racer breaks into tears after facing an extreme fear of heights while repelling down a 400-foot building.
While navigating through the picturesque land of Brazil, frustration gets the better of one racer who is lost and has trouble operating a manual transmission. During an intense challenge, some teams are neck and neck as they scale a waterfall while others are left watching as other teams pass them by.
The order of departure from Estádio Municipal Paulo Machado de Carvalho are as follows:
Teams must make their way to Edifício Copan and find their clue at Bloco F.
The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock would have to climb one of three stairwells on a fire escape of the building. Once on the top, they would put harness and rappel 400 feet (120 m) down the building until they receiving their next clue. However, the order which they arrived at the top would determine the order in which they would descend.
The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:
Teams must make their way to Terminal Rodoviário Barra Funda to find one of three charter buses leaving at 10:15 am, 11:15 am, and 12:15 pm to the town of Brotas. Once at Terminal Rodoviário de Brotas, teams must choose a Volkswagen Beetle to get their next clue.
Choice A: Press It
Teams must drive to Camping Bela Vista to process raw sugar cane and distill its juice. Then, teams have to make 500 ml of ethanol to fuel their cars as an alternative fuel source. After completing the task, teams would had pour to newly created ethanol in their car to continuing on and the chemist would receive their next clue.
Choice B: Climb It
Teams must drive to Usina Jacaré and hike to a nearby waterfall. Once there, they must climb 90 feet up a waterfall using mechanical ascenders to climb at the top to receive their next clue.
