Go, Mommy, Go! We Can Beat Them! is the season premiere of The Amazing Race: Family Edition.
Synopsis[]
Ten families will embark on the ultimate family vacation with one family taking home the $1 million prize when THE AMAZING RACE: FAMILY EDITION, the three-time Emmy Award-winning reality series, premieres with a special two-hour broadcast, Tuesday, September 27 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Phil Keoghan is the host of the series.
The picturesque New York skyline emerges as water taxis speed the 10 families across the New York Harbor as they ready themselves for a high-energy race through Manhattan. Fireworks begin immediately as one family bickers about getting lost in the crowded streets while another team complains of a leg injury. After completing their first task, families travel to Pennsylvania where they must paddle a rowboat across the Delaware River, the same place where George Washington famously crossed the Delaware during the Revolutionary War. At the detour, families choose between building a miniature working water mill or pulling a traditional Amish buggy along a 1.5-mile course. One family has a big scare as their buggy nearly runs over a team member, while another team becomes exhausted pushing their buggy through the countryside.
THE AMAZING RACE: FAMILY EDITION is an adventure reality show hosted by Phil Keoghan that pits 10 teams of families against each other in a race around the world for approximately 30 days. At every destination, each family must compete in a series of challenges, some mental and some physical, and only when the tasks have been completed will they learn their next destination. Families who are the farthest behind will gradually be eliminated as the contest progresses, with the first team to arrive at the final destination winning $1 million.[2]

The race begins at Empire–Fulton Ferry State Park in New York City, New York, United States.
Teams must drive themselves across the Brooklyn Bridge to SoHo and find Eastern Mountain Sports. One there, teams will have to pick up camping gear (four sleeping bags, four camping mats, four headlamps, and one tent) for the rest of the Race. Once they have their essentials, the store cashier would give them their next clue.
Teams must find the marked hot dog stand on East 91st Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue, and ask for a "frank" from the vendors (Kevin & Drew of The Amazing Race 1) to receive their next clue.
Teams must drive themselves across the George Washington Bridge to Washington Crossing Historic Park in Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania, where they will find their next clue.
At Washington Crossing Historic Park, teams would have the option to Yield a team. None of the teams opted to use the Yield, so this was left unaired.
Team would have to relive American history and recreate George Washington's crossing of the Delaware River by choosing a rowboat and crossing the Delaware River into Washington Crossing State Park in New Jersey, where they would retrieve a 13-star flag, and row the boat back to the Pennsylvania shore to observe a flag-folding ceremony to get their next clue. There were only four boats available at a time.
Teams must drive themselves to Philadelphia and find Belmont Plateau in Fairmount Park, where they had to pitch a tent using the camping gear they picked up at Eastern Mountain Sports as quickly as possible. Once the tent was assembled and an Eagle Scout approved their work, they would be given a pass to leave the next morning. The first three teams to pitch their tent would depart 10:00 am, the next three at 10:30 am, and the last four at 11:00 am.
Teams must drive themselves to Mount Joy and find the Brubaker Family Farm to find their next clue.
Choice A: Build It
Teams must find a scale model of a watermill and use the materials provided to build a miniature working watermill. They must then get two buckets of water and prove that their watermill works by filling it to receive their next clue.
The Black, Bransen, Godlewski, Paolo, Rogers, Schroeder, and Weaver Families chose this task.
Choice B: Buggy It
Teams must transport a traditional Amish buggy along a 1.5-mile course with two members pulling at the driver's seat and two members sitting inside the buggy. Team members may switch at any time if needed. Once they have completed the course, teams would receive their next clue.
Teams must drive to Lancaster and find the Rohrer Family Farm to check in.
For coming in first place, the Godlewski Family won $20,000.
