Follow That Plane! is the season finale of The Amazing Race 2.

Synopsis

As they complete their journey around the world, the final three teams race to reach the finish line first and win the $1 million prize.

The final three teams race from New Zealand to Hawaii to Alaska and, finally, on to the last city where the race to the finish line comes down to a matter of seconds. Along the way, one of the teams loses their clue putting them at a disadvantage.[2]

Route Markers

Leg 12

The order of departure from the Warbirds Hangar are as follows:

  1. Tara & Wil (1:03 am)
  2. Blake & Paige (3:30 am)
  3. Chris & Alex (3:58 am)

Teams must find One Tree Hill and look for the Sir John Logan Campbell monument to find their next clue.

Teams must fly to Maui, Hawaii, United States of America. Once they get there they have to follow a map to the ruins of a sugar mill to find their next clue.

Teams must drive themselves to a water tower in a nearby pineapple field to find their next clue.

Choice A: Bike
Teams will use a bike to search the pineapple field to find a red-colored pineapple. Inside the pineapple is their next clue.

None of the teams chose this task.

Choice B: Walk
Teams must walk through the pineapple field to find one of four yellow-colored pineapples. Inside the pineapples is their next clue.

All of the teams chose this task.

Teams must drive themselves to McGregor Point to get a boat that will take them to a marker in the middle of an extinct volcano, Molokini.

The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock will have to put on snorkeling gear to find and untie a chest suspended in the ocean. Once the chest is open, they will receive their next clue.

Teams must make their way to Huialoha Church to check in. For coming in first place, Blake & Paige and Tara & Wil each won a vacation to London and Paris, provided by American Airlines Vacations.

Leg 13

The order of departure from Huialoha Church are as follows:

  1. Blake & Paige (11:13 pm)
  2. Tara & Wil (11:13 pm)
  3. Chris & Alex (12:39 am)

Teams must drive to Hana Day, and find Queen Kaʻahumanu's Birthplace to receive their next clue.

Teams must flt to Anchorage, Alaska and find Rust's Flying Service to fly to Template:Trapper's Creek.

Teams will have to stay overnight in an igloo and in the morning, will hike one of the trails into the woods to find their next clue.

This leg's Detour was aired as a miscellaneous task, as all teams chose the same side of the Detour. The second half of the Detour is unknown.

Choice A: Unknown
Teams must drive a snowcat across a frozen lake to receive their next clue.

All of the teams chose this task.

Teams must drive to Homesteader's Hardware Store in Big Lake to get their next clue.

Teams must pick up some tools and propane at Homesteader's and cross Hurricane Gulch to find their next clue.

The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock will have to get a clue from frozen in an ice globe. They are able to use any tool they picked up from the hardware store. Once they have their clue, they can continue racing.

The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:

Teams will fly to Oakland, California and make their way to San Francisco to find the Atkinson-Esher House.

Teams will have to run to find Municipal Pier, where they will get their next clue.

Teams must make their way to Murray Circle on East Fort Baker in Sausalito to the finish line.

Trivia

  • This episode's title was stated by Wil, telling the pilot to following the other planes, as he an Tara lost the clue directing the pilot where to fly to.
  • The closest footrace to the finish in the entire franchise of The Amazing Race.
  • Since Tara & Wil received time credit for the Pit Stop on Leg 12, they were also awarded the same London & Paris vacation package as Blake/Paige.
