The order of departure from Dunnottar Castle are as follows:

Teams must walk to Stonehaven Harbour and search the port to find the "message in a bottle" with next clue on the inside label of the bottle.

Teams must fly to Porto, Portugal and find the Calem Port Lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia to find their next clue.

The Fast Forward instructions were given to teams after receiving their clue at the Detour. According to a post-race interview with Ken, teams had to complete a puzzle.

Choice A: Old School
Teams loaded a barrel of port wine weighing more than 90 lb (41 kg) onto a traditional Portuguese boat, helped to row it across the Douro River, then delivered it to the O Muro restaurant to receive their next clue.

Aaron & Arianne, Derek & Drew, Ken & Gerard, Michael & Kathy, and Teri & Ian chose this task.

Choice B: New School
Teams loaded nine crates of wine bottles onto marked trucks and drove them through the streets of Porto to three different restaurants: Chez Lapin, Retiro dos Carvalhos, and Café Majestic. Teams may make their deliveries to the first two restaurants in either order, but must make their delivery to Café Majestic, where the next clue would be given, last.

In both options, teams had to get signatures from each restaurant to prove that they made the deliveries correctly in order to receive their next clue.

Andre & Damon, Flo & Zach, Heather & Eve, and John Vito & Jill chose this task.

Teams must take a train to Lisbon and find the clue at Gate F of Estádio do Restelo to find their next clue.

"The person who performs this task should have long arms and fast feet."

One team member had to enter one of the goals and block one penalty kick from a teenage Portuguese soccer player. Once the referee has determined that the goal was properly blocked, the team would receive their next clue.
