Being Polite Sucks Sometimes is the ninth episode of The Amazing Race 10.
The teams are faced with a challenging Roadblock that will test the Racers' ability to stay calm in a claustrophobic setting, while one Racer struggles to overcome their fear of heights.
As the intensity of the Race picks up, one team's kind nature is put to the test when another team jumps in front of them in the taxi line. Meanwhile, another team's frustration sets in when they miss a train, causing them to lose precious time.
The order of departure from Cathedral Andohalo are as follows:
Teams must fly to Helsinki, Finland. Due to the limited number of flights out of Madagascar, teams are given tickets to Paris, France to make arrangements to Helsinki. However, they are not obligated to use them if they choose not to use them. Upon arrival, teams must head to Kappeli Café and search for a marked laptop where they have to log onto their AOL e-mail to receive a video from loved ones back at home. Once they've watch their videos, the owner of the cafe would give them their next clue.
Choice A: Swamp This
Teams would have to put on a pair of cross-country skis and would have to traverse a 1-mile course through a muddy bog while wearing them. The course would involve three locations where teams would have to temporarily take off their skis and climb up a wooden platform, after which they would jump into the muck and put their skis back on. Once completed, they would receive their next clue.
Choice B: Swamp That
Teams would traverse through an obstacle course through the muddy bog. They would be required to run, crawl, climb platforms, swing on a rope and carry one another, as dictated by signs along the way. Once completed, they would receive their next clue.
The team member assigned to perform this Roadblock would have to ride a bicycle down a steep hill even deeper into the mine. At the bottom, they would find a heavy limestone block, which they would have to attach to their bike and return to the top of the hill. There, they would use the provided tools to break open the block to get the clue inside.
The Roadblock performers per team are underlined:
Teams must drive themselves to the Helsinki Olympic Stadium and search for their next clue.
Teams must climb to the top of the Helsinki Olympic Stadium Tower, where both team members must perform a face-first rappel to receive their next clue.
